Last week, I registered for the File System and Database class (Fichiers et bases de données) at Université du Québec à Montréal for Fall semester. This morning, I just found out a free Database course online given by Stanford on coursera platform. It contains video lectures, quizzes, exams; basically everything you get from formal education.
I just watched the Intro and Relational Databases videos and was impressed by the quality : simple, straight to the point, economy of words. At UQAM, some teachers speak and speak and get lost in an explanation going left and right. At the end of a sentence, you notice he lost his train of thoughts! In the case of Coursera, judging from the three videos I watched, it is perfectly clear, well explained, annotated. You noticed it's been rehearsed so you get the best of it.
If you are interested in learning IT by yourself, this is for you.
