Agile Development Conference West & Better Software Conference West
I will attend both conferences in the next few weeks. I have been working in a true Agile environment for the last year. In the past, I've worked for companies calling themselves Agile. After a while, I realized it was more or less wishful thinking. I don't blame them; it's hard to switch culture when 15 years+ experienced employees refuse to accept it. Change is hard, change is scary, change is challenging. Why bother try when your day-to-day routine is working (or sort of!).
I have been lucky enough to work for a company with the desire (and budget) to embrace changes and switch to large-scale Agile methodology. We struggled (and still are at some time) but the great thing at Agile is when you fail, you say it (transparency is a key value) and you adapt for the next iteration. Agility is no blue sky, you will fail and need to. In order to improve your practices, at some point or another, you need to fail. Then you inspect, you adapt and you succeed... until your next failure.
I can't wait to ear all speakers from those two conferences. I am attending alone for my employer. Since both conferences happen at the same time, I need to choose which keynotes/speeches I will attend.
